STREAMING VIDEO TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

If possible, contact your systems administrator or internal tech support. You should verify that you are not behind a firewall that blocks streaming video and that you have a high speed internet connection faster than 300kbps. Most DSL and cable connections should suffice.

Problem: I cannot SEE video nor HEAR audio.

  • Solution: Do you have the latest version of Windows Media Player installed?
All users--both PC and Mac--need the latest version of Windows Media Player to view this stream. Click here to download/install Windows Media Player
  • Solution: Do you have a current browser?
All modern browsers are supported: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Opera 8.0+. Earlier version of IE on both PC & Mac have known issues. Mozilla's FireFox is our browser of choice on all platforms.
  • Solution: Close and restart your browser
Closing your browser and restarting it can be a helpful trick to start streaming. MAC USERS SHOULD NOTE that closing your current browser windows DOES NOT close the application. Make sure to completely quit your browser and re-launch it. This solves issues with OSX most of the time.

Problem: I can SEE the stream, but cannot HEAR the stream.

  • Verify that your speakers are powered on and the volume is turned up to a level appropriate for your listening preferences.
  • Check to see if you can hear audio from another source on your computer such as a CD or other multimedia file.
  • Windows Users: Click the speaker icon in your taskbar, and verify that all of the proper levels are turned up and that your sound drivers are setup correctly. If you are not familiar with this process, this document will help.
  • Mac OS X users can check their system's sound control panel in "System Preferences" under the Apple menu in the left corner of the screen. Check through the panel to make sure all the volume sliders are turned up to their full capacity--interacting w/these sliders should produce short audio beeps and clicks to verify your speakers are working properly.
  • If you can hear audio through other media players on your computer, and you've checked your sound settings and verified that our embedded Windows Media Player’s (on our website) volume slider is at the maximum level -- then try upgrading your Windows Media Player by clicking here.

Problem: I can HEAR the stream, but cannot SEE the stream.

  • In most cases, this indicates that you have an outdated version of Windows Media Player. You can upgrade Windows Media Player by clicking here. It is also possible that your Windows Media Player is not configured correctly and you are viewing the stream via RealPlayer -- in which case, a simple re-installation of Windows Media Player should resolve the situation.
