IRVINE, Calif. (April 25, 2012) – Paciolan, an industry-leading provider of ticketing, marketing, and fundraising solutions to more than 500 live entertainment organizations, announced today that it has partnered with SSB Consulting Group and Kore Technologies to create a SQL-based data warehouse solution called Paciolan Ticketing Intelligence for its clients. Based on key performance indicators, Paciolan Ticketing Intelligence will provide Paciolan’s clients with real-time dashboards, cross-systems reporting and direct data warehouse access that can help them make critical, data driven business decisions. The solution is able to bring together information from multiple databases including the University foundation, merchandise, concessions, ticketing, marketing and fundraising sources. Armed with this data, teams and venues analyze sales and donation data, identify trends and tailor programs to maximize sales growth, enhance customer interactions and increase donation revenues.

“We remain laser focused and firmly committed to providing our clients with the most optimal solutions to help them efficiently run their organizations, increase revenue and be successful,” said Dave Butler, chief executive officer of Paciolan. “With Paciolan Ticketing Intelligence they will be able to better analyze data on fans, donors and customers, and make timely and impacting business decisions.”

Arizona State University Athletics is the first in college athletics to implement the smart analytics solution into their ticketing and fundraising systems.

“Paciolan Ticketing intelligence provides instant access to critical data, in real time that will help us better manage and measure our efforts through extensive reporting,” said Steve Patterson, athletic director of ASU. “This will enhance our ability to provide world class customer service to meet the needs of our fan base, while driving additional revenue.”

Paciolan Ticketing Intelligence enables organizations to integrate data from third-party systems, including data-append and lead-scoring services, as well as affiliated fundraising systems to provide sophisticated data analysis across a complex organization to aid revenue growth.

“We are excited about the opportunities to better understand and complement our sales and marketing programs,” said Steve Hank, Associate Athletic Director of ASU. “Now we can monitor our sales activity, compare fund development campaigns, and integrate marketing data into a single, visual dashboard to view progress and identify trends. This rich reporting will help us to cohesively manage strategic programs to better communicate internally and externally with our fan base.”

“We’re very excited to be partnering with Paciolan to provide its clients with our industry-leading data warehouse solution,” said Andrew Brodie, president of SSB Consulting. “With this solution, Paciolan’s clients will be able to quickly and easily analyze data and trends that can help them make better business decisions based on their unique needs. They can even view live reports through their mobile device including an iPad or smart phone for instant access to critical data.”

“Kore is pleased to be partnering with Paciolan and SSB as the MultiValue integration experts,” said Mark Dobransky, managing partner of Kore Technologies. “Using Kourier Integrator, our enterprise integration suite, we are able to provide near real-time updates to the SQL Server database used by the Paciolan Ticketing Intelligence solution.”

Arizona State University is using new ticketing technology to help streamline fundraising efforts tied to renovating Sun Devil Stadium.

The Pac-12 school is the first in Division I to use Paciolan’s Ticketing Intelligence, a data warehouse that consolidates information from ticketing, concessions, merchandise and university development systems into one platform.

Paciolan, Arizona State’s ticketing vendor, created the platform with business partners SSB Consulting and Kore Technologies.

Ticketing Intelligence was first adopted at the Rose Garden about two years ago, where ASU Athletic Director Steve Patterson was formerly the president and general manager of the Portland Trail Blazers.

In Tempe, as the school moves forward with a stadium renovation that could cost $300 million, athletic officials have direct access to real-time data on game days, enabling them to target their best customers for donations to the project.

As part of the system, Arizona State customized the technology to identify the school’s principal donors sitting inside the stadium. After their tickets are scanned, athletic officials receive a text message on their smartphone with those specific seat locations.

To gain more information on those individuals, ASU officials conduct a search through the Ticketing Intelligence Web-based service to view a list of their purchases at previous football games.

Accessing those complete profiles on season-ticket holders and other contributors gives an edge to ASU Associate Athletic Director Steve Hank in his attempts to set up one-on-one conversations with potential donors for the stadium renovation.

For example, knowing ahead of time that someone had bought an extra large Sun Devils polo shirt at the team store and a Coke at the concession stand at a previous game, Hank can arrive at a person’s seat with those items as an icebreaker for easing into talks about donations, he said.

“It is that moment of truth where you meet all the needs of the customer,” he said. “The real magic of this system is that it can take data from any source and make it available anywhere. I believe this is going to revolutionize college sports. It is the ultimate data collection system.”

The cost is about $12,000 to consolidate all systems tied to athletics and university operations into the Ticketing Intelligence platform, depending on the level of customization, said Dave Butler, Paciolan’s CEO.

Paciolan is providing the system to connect ticketing and athletic fundraising for free to its 500 college clients, Butler said. The additional fees to consolidate all systems cover Paciolan’s cost to pull together other databases for concessions and retail from third-party vendors and university development outside of athletics.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IRVINE, Calif. and GREENVILLE, N.C. (April 18, 2012) – Paciolan, the leading provider of ticketing, marketing, and fundraising solutions in college athletics, today announced that East Carolina University (ECU) will be continuing its 20-year partnership with the company. During this time, ECU Athletics, ECU Performing Arts, and Student Life events will continue to leverage the integrated box office and online ticketing, Fundraiser’s Advantage and email marketing solutions to serve its fans and customers through a single, on-campus system.

“It’s been great working with Paciolan for the past 20 years,” said Terry Holland, athletic director for East Carolina University. “Our partnership with Paciolan helps us to reach our goal of offering Pirate fans, students and donors the best services and technology available in college athletics.”

For the 2012 season ticket renewal process for football and basketball, ECU is leveraging the 3D stadium and arena venue visualization system through Paciolan’s partner, Ballena Technologies. Through a rich, interactive, digital venue, fans can preview, select, and purchase their season tickets, as well as view parking options available at each of the venues. ECU plans to add the integrated Ballena technology to soccer, baseball and softball this summer using a universal map that will feature drop down maps, directions and parking for each sport.

“We’re extremely proud to be able to offer our fans these additional seating and parking services through Paciolan’s partnership with Ballena,” said Scott Wetherbee, assistant athletic director, marketing and ticket operations, at East Carolina University. “Paciolan continues to help us achieve our goals on so many fronts as we continue to elevate the services we offer our fans.”

Leveraging Paciolan’s Access Management scanning system, which provides detailed data on game-day attendance, ECU has achieved 50 percent print-at-home delivery for all single tickets, which helps the university save mail costs and decreases will call lines. ECU has also leveraged their digital ticketing system to serve its 9,700 member “Student Pirate Club.” As a member, students are provided a bar-coded membership card that gives them access to every football game. This summer, ECU plans to move 100 percent of all student ticket sales online, making this process fully digital from end to end.

To complement its digital ticketing strategy, ECU recently developed a season ticket booklet, which included bar-coded season tickets, parking passes and Pirate Club memberships – all included in one, comprehensive booklet.

Using Paciolan’s Fundraiser’s Advantage solution, ECU is able to maximize its donor communications to increase contributions. Integrated with the ticketing system, ECU is able to offer enhanced customer services to its season ticket holders and donors. For example, using a point system, ECU rewards priority points to donors and season ticket holders who attend events.

“We’ve been very pleased with the many benefits of Paciolan’s fundraising solution, especially the transparency of the point system,” added Wetherbee. “We’re able to track these points, as well as all donations and past history, and easily display the information to our donors when they log into their accounts. There’s so much we’ll be able to accomplish as we continue to evolve and grow our fundraising efforts, which is very exciting to us!”

“We’re proud to be working with East Carolina University as they continue leveraging our proven technology solutions to consistently achieve success with their athletics initiatives,” said Dave Butler, chief executive officer of Paciolan. “It’s been a wonderful 20-year partnership filled with many exciting accomplishments, and we look forward to continuing this trend for many years to come.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IRVINE, Calif. and CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (April 12, 2012) – Paciolan, the leading provider of ticketing, marketing, and fundraising solutions in college athletics, today announced its partnership renewal with University of Illinois (Illinois), which now includes Assembly Hall, the university’s on campus arena that supports popular Broadway series, concerts, and athletics events. With the partnership renewal, Illinois will be extending its suite of Paciolan technology solutions to include the company’s Access Management scanning and digital ticketing for football at Memorial Stadium and Assembly Hall. Working with Paciolan since 1981, Illinois is the company’s fourth customer.

“We are very pleased to continue our long-time association with Paciolan,” said Mike Thomas, director of athletics for University of Illinois. “The cutting-edge technology and great customer service has been a terrific asset in our relationship with our fans. We are excited about the Digital Ticketing aspect of the partnership, which will efficiently streamline our ticketing process and provide better service to our customers.”

By adding Paciolan’s Access Management for football at Memorial Stadium, and Assembly Hall, Illinois will learn who attended which games/events, identify what tickets were used and tailor marketing messages and offers based on attendance patterns.

“We are very excited to be offering our fans Access Management scanning, which will enhance their experience and provide the university with important marketing data,” said Jason Heggemeyer, assistant athletic director for ticketing for University of Illinois. “As we look to the future, we’ll be relying on Paciolan as we explore ticket transfer and resale options, as well as delivery to student IDs.”

Leveraging the Paciolan ticketing system, Illinois sold more than 50 percent of all season renewals online through Fightingillini.com. The ticket office also sold up to 70 percent of all single event tickets online.

“Online ticket sales have helped us gain more visibility with our fans and provided a convenient 24-7 outlet for them to purchase tickets,” added Heggemeyer.

Illinois also leverages Paciolan’s fundraising solution, tFund, which is integrated with its ticketing efforts. With tFund, Illinois can more efficiently manage donations, track donor interactions and recruit new donors.

“The integration of the donor component and ticketing is a huge benefit and really allows us to operate as a solid, cohesive organization,” added Heggemeyer. “Tying ticketing and development together helps us to manage premium seating and reward our donors and season ticket holders appropriately, which is very important to us.”

Illinois, which recently took over Assembly Hall’s ticketing operations, will combine the arena business into the university’s ticketing system to save costs and increase operational efficiencies, while creating new cross-sell packages, and promotional offers for Illini fans and arena customers alike.

“It’s been wonderful working with University of Illinois to help them grow their season ticket renewals and online single ticket sales,” said Dave Butler, chief executive officer of Paciolan. “By adding our Access Management scanning solution for football, at Memorial Stadium, as well as Assembly Hall, we look forward to seeing Illinois enhance efficiencies of their ticketing operations, while creating a richer experience for all Fighting Illini fans.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IRVINE, Calif. and EAST LANSING, Mich. (April 10, 2012) – Paciolan, the leading provider of ticketing, marketing, and fundraising solutions in college athletics, announced today that Michigan State University (MSU) has signed a 10-year partnership renewal with the company. With the renewal, MSU will be implementing Paciolan’s Access Management for football, stadium-wide, as well as its Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution. MSU has been working with Paciolan since 1988.

“Paciolan is a trusted partner that enables us to offer innovative services that enhance our relationship with our fans, season ticket holders and donors throughout every aspect of our operation,” said Mark Hollis, director of athletics for Michigan State University. “We look forward to leveraging new tools provided by Paciolan to continue to raise the bar for all Spartan fans.”

A proven athletics progam, MSU won a share of the 2011-12 Big Ten regular season basketball championship as well as the Big Ten Basketball Tournament. MSU also achieved its second back-to-back 11 win season in football and won the Big Ten Legends Division, which earned it a spot in the first ever Big 10 Football Championship game, followed by a victory at the Outback Bowl.

After successfully implementing Paciolan’s Access Management scanning for basketball and hockey, MSU plans to extend this process to include football, stadium-wide, for the 2012 season. Once Access Management is installed, Spartan fans will also be able to resell tickets, or transfer tickets online to friends or family, if they cannot attend a home football game.

MSU will also be adding Paciolan’s CRM solution, which will allow it to enhance its ticket sales efforts, and efficiently manage relationships with Spartan season ticketholders and donors. MSU will also be able to accurately document every transaction and enhance its communications process to provide personalized services for each Spartan fan.

By enhancing the online experience and leveraging the Paciolan ticketing system, MSU secured record online adoption rates, including selling 100 percent of all student season tickets online and delivering all of the tickets digitally to their student IDs. MSU also drove 60 percent of all their season ticket renewals online and sold nearly 70 percent of all single tickets through the Internet.

Last year, MSU partnered with Ballena Technologies to offer an online reseating process complete with a full 3D rendering of the Breslin Center along with integration into the Paciolan system to purchase tickets. Because the process was such a fan friendly experience, the MSU administration decided to implement the online Ballena/Paciolan interface to handle seat upgrades and changes for football, hockey and basketball for each season moving forward.

MSU is also the leading college athletics institution in the country in the area of online display ad retargeting, which serves online ticketing advertisements to fans that browsed an event, but didn’t purchase tickets.

“We’re thrilled with our retargeting results which allowed us to deliver timely ticketing offers to fans,” said Wendy Brown, assistant athletic director of ticket operations for Michigan State University. “Through this innovative marketing technique, we’ve generated over $225,000 in incremental revenue with a return on investment of $43 earned per every $1 spent.”

“Michigan State has a proven track record of success with its athletics initiatives, and we’re very proud to be working with such a great program,” said Dave Butler, chief executive officer of Paciolan. “It’s been very exciting working alongside them as they continue to conquer new territory leveraging our industry-proven ticketing, marketing and fundraising solutions. We look forward to implementing our Access Management scanning solution for football and to taking their customer engagement to new levels with our CRM system.”

The Fox Theatre will be implementing all of Paciolan’s solutions, including ticketing, marketing, fundraising, social media and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to sell tickets, market its performances, generate revenue, and manage patron relationships.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IRVINE, Calif. and TORONTO, Canada (April 3, 2012) – Paciolan, a leading provider of ticketing and marketing solutions for more than 500 live entertainment organizations, announced today that it has partnered with TicketOps, a ticketing services provider to 300 venues throughout Canada and the US. TicketOps will be implementing Paciolan’s venue enablement ticketing services, including the company’s reserved seating solution, which will allow its clients to better control their brand, manage the customer experiences, and build lifelong customer relationships, all while maximizing revenue streams. In conjunction with the partnership, TicketOps will implement Paciolan’s ticketing and marketing solutions for Pacific National Exhibition, an organization that supports the Pacific Coliseum and serves visitors with first-class cultural, sporting and family entertainment events.

“We wanted the ability to offer our clients a reserved seating solution that delivers greater control and a high ROI,” said Hugh Hall, chief executive officer of TicketOps. “Out of the many companies we reviewed, Paciolan came out on top as offering the most robust software available for our existing clients, as well as putting us in a good position to grow our business by offering our services to new venues as well.”

For TicketOps, working with Paciolan, the ticketing service provider will now have the opportunity to grow its business by offering reserved seat ticketing and technology solutions to its general admission clients — many of which have larger venues with reserved seating needs.

TicketOps also plans on implementing Paciolan’s marketing services and suite of products that will enable its client venues to connect with their customers and ultimately sell more tickets. Some of Paciolan’s marketing products include email marketing, online display ad retargeting and the PAC social media platform. Combined with robust and powerful online ticket selling capabilities, TicketOps clients will also be able to cross-sell and up-sell events to their customers.

“As a thought-leading organization with a strong marketing vision, we are always looking for ways to enhance online ticket sales and the customer experience,” added Hall. “Utilizing Paciolan’s marketing services and product suite will help take our business development efforts to the next level.”

“We’re happy to be working with TicketOps and look forward to helping them grow their regional ticketing business by leveraging our venue enablement ticketing services and reserved seating technology solution,” said Dave Butler, chief executive officer of Paciolan.

###

About PNE

South by Southwest Interactive — it’s the conference that blew up Twitter and gave birth to Foursquare … what next big things debuted this year? And, more important, what do they mean for venues?

Rather than the next big thing, this year’s SXSW produced two big themes: geolocation and social data.

Geolocation is nothing new. After all, Foursquare debuted at South by Southwest in 2009. But consumer applications utilizing automated geolocation are continually finding new ways to filter through social data and improve the user experience in real time. Specifically referred to as location-based discovery apps, they take advantage of ambient GPS technology to help you make new friends, browse nearby restaurants or find the best party.

Festival favorite Highlight, for instance, will send an alert every time someone nearby has a similar interest. These interests are gathered via the person’s Facebook account, so if you and I were both Mumford & Sons fans, and we happened to be walking next to each other, Highlight would let me know.

Glomper, another early favorite, constantly updates its list of “hot events” and helps you find cool things to do, based on where you are, how many people are there or have been there, and Facebook/Foursquare RSVPs.

From a marketing perspective, venues don’t need to focus on servicing any particular location-based discovery app specifically. Actively encouraging and incentivizing fans to “check in” is enough, because regardless of which one ends up achieving critical mass, the fuel that’s powering them is check ins via Facebook and Foursquare. Highlight doesn’t even offer the option to use their service unless you have a Facebook account. For venues where connectivity is an issue, explore the option of designated check in spots where connectivity is strongest. Fan photo booths where a picture can be automatically geotagged and uploaded to the user’s Facebook account via RFID tag, for instance, are as ubiquitous as skinny jeans at the hipster-heavy confab.

Backing up a step, it’s worth noting again that Highlight can identify that I am a Mumford & Sons fan and pair me up with another fan of the band when we are within spitting distance of each other, even though I have never taken any Mumford & Sons activity within the application. Even if I don’t “like” Mumford & Sons on Facebook, if I listen to their songs on Spotify, the program’s integration with Facebook’s Open Graph will record the data and share with Highlight.

Conversely, Spotify can now draw in data about what a fan said about Mumford & Sons at their live show. Facebook has therefore essentially built a giant data co-op for these applications to feed off of and into. Facebook ends up the ultimate winner, of course, since they get more traffic to their site, a better user experience, and more targeted advertisements.

These ads hold tremendous opportunities for venues. Rather than advertising an upcoming REO Speedwagon show to everyone who reads the entertainment section of the local daily, you can now target everyone who has liked REO Speedwagon on Facebook or listened to their songs on Spotify and lives within 15 miles of the venue. It doesn’t stop there. You can craft a marketing message for fathers who match all of those criteria and hit them with a clever headline like “Take It On The Run With Your Son. Take him to see REO Speedwagon today!” For bachelors, a message like “She Won’t Be Able To Fight That Feeling Anymore when you take her to see REO Speedwagon” might be more appealing.

This data also allows for smarter decisions. Booking shows, for example, doesn’t have to mean guessing whether an artist’s ticket sales in Los Angeles last year means that they’ll play well in Atlanta this year. Now, you (or, rather, one of the many SXSW startups) can troll through all of the social media chatter, likes, actions and mentions and see how much buzz the artist has been getting in Atlanta over the past few months, whether the conversation has been skewing favorably or unfavorably, and what the demographic makeup of those fans who are talking favorably about the artist tends to be. You can then compare that against the demographics of your own social media fans or followers, or against other markets. For instance, Mike McGinley of Los Angeles-based startup CitizenNet shared that when REO Speedwagon and Styx needed to settle who should close in an undisclosed market, management measured the buzz each band was getting and adjusted accordingly.

Ultimately, the opportunities of geolocation and social media data are one and the same. The Internet will be most frequently accessed through mobile devices and, with that comes a whole new level of opportunity to serve the right offer to the right customer at exactly the right time and place.
